People for People of Gloucester County, initiated by members of the Mullica Hill Rotary Club, with the support of The Bank and The Gloucester County Times, joined together with local businesses, church groups, aid organizations and others in Gloucester County to reach out to those in need.
A board of directors, made up of Gloucester County residents, governs People for People. The board prefers to receive cases referred from government, civic or religious organizations, rather than from those who are directly in need.
Major national or international charities often address a dramatic event that makes big news. People for People Foundation of Gloucester County addresses similar needs on a smaller scale, with more immediate and personal attention. The foundation helps alleviate the crisis that a person or family may go through, that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Gloucester County residents who benefit from the foundation might be totally self-sufficient, until suddenly they’re faced with an emergency or a one-time setback. Often people who fit into this category are not eligible to receive help from traditional sources, or their income level makes them ineligible to receive government aid. That’s where People for People can step in as a one time helping hand.
